Dependence on Foreign Oil
It is frustrating when we have to depend on others for our very existence. America has tremendous pockets of untapped natural resources such as oil and coal, but because of the burdensome regulations placed on companies to explore and bring the product to market, our production levels are stagnate. We live in a supply and demand economy. The demand is high and the supply is at the whim of others.
We will be in serious trouble if a major conflict breaks out in the Middle East and our supply is cut off. It could take years to go from exploration to extracting to refining to delivering the final product to market. We must begin now before it is too late.
If elected I would support legislation that breaks down paperwork and environmental roadblocks to successfully and responsibly explore for, tap into and extract the oil and resources from our country. I would break down the barriers that prevent new refineries from being built. The application of alternative fuels and energy sources must also be a priority.
Mega farms are sprouting up like weeds in our district. We should tap into the new fuel technology of methane. There are farms in the Great Lakes region that are totally self-sufficient for their power source from the methane produced as waste product. They then sell the excess energy to the power company. We must utilize these and other alternative fuel opportunities.
